Crozet VFD Checklist

Before Leaving Fire House

Seat belts all crew

Garage doors fully open

All gear stored and all side panels closed

Check for any special equipment required

Check water levels

Set correct TAC channel

Confirm location and route (officer and driver)

Enroute

Monitor radio traffic

monitor road and weather conditions

Make initial assignments if appropriate * if taking a hydrant, don't forget the hydrant bag.

Make final eqipment checks

If appropriate, based on information, recommend additional help

Upon Arrival

Remember to leave room for additional apparatus

Look to position truck to view 3 sides of structure

Look for persons who can give information about location of occupants

Note fire/smoke locations (A,B,C,D sides)

Note the type of building construction

Note number of floors

Note the need for exposure protecton

Note life hazzards i.e. electrical lines down

Note water supply availability

Determine IAP Offensive - Defensive - Transitional

Name command - Take command - Give Size Up Report

Request additional resources if required

Remember to take the TIC

Look to locate any victims

Look for location of fire

Identify smoke and fire conditions

Note location of basement windows and entrances

Note location of electrical connection

Note best locations for ventilation

Note any life hazzards - electrical lines down

Upon Return To Firehouse

Clean and return all tools and equipment used

Document any crew injuries - seek medical care if required

clean and repack all hose

clean and replace all air packs

Refill water tanks

Wash down truck

Complete any required departmental reports
